Bollywood is going Digital

The world is getting digitalized, so the bollywood film industry too. Bollywood film industry is joining hands with telecom operators for its services and its business growth, and recently bollywood has started is marketing campaign through the telecom operator.  Excel entertainment has recently tied up with the Aircel to push upcoming film “Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara” film’s trailer to the Aircel’s 55 million customers for free. This is a first and its kind of marketing campaign in India done by bollywood industry.

Apart from Tie-up with Aircel, production house is coming up with the social page on Facebook, which will have trailers and other relevant information on its page. They will target FB users with sharing the post with them online.

Mobile marketing is a segment of telecom value added services and Hollywood has already benefited from it.  Indian telecom industry has already crossed 800 mn subscriber bases recently and mobile marketing makes significant meaning in Indian film industry too.

With more than half of India’s 47 million online populations active on social networking sites, Facebook has more than 25 million users and Orkut has more than 14 million users. So these social sites are becoming a great tool for marketing and it is the right opportunity for bollywood to use this tool.

So following the similar footsteps of Hollywood, Bollywood would like to promote its film through operator services and VAS services. Sooner with the help of 3G and IPTV, Bollywood will have a different reach and value in the market.
